Ordinarily, I don't watch the network morning news shows because they are usually devoid of anything interesting. But there I was on the couch at 8:45 last Friday morning, steaming cup o' Starbucks in hand and Good Morning America on the flat screen waiting to see Lynyrd Skynyrd. First up was Kid Rock who has a new song called "All Summer Long" in which he samples "Werewolves of London" and "Sweet Home Alabama" (they are, after all, very similar and work well together).
So, the Kid does his thing and is just finishing up when BAM! The power goes out. By the time it comes back on and the TiVO powers up, the show is over and I've missed Skynyrd. Fortunately, through the miracle of You-Tube, I was able to see their performance (which included a duet on "Sweet Home Alabama" by Johnny Van Zant and Kid Rock). If you missed it the first time around I have posted the video below.

Recently, The CBS Morning Show did a feature on an extreme sidewalk chalk artist named Julian Beever. Julian uses forced perspective to create a 3 dimensional illusion so realistic that you are convinced there is 12 Coke bottle standing tall on the pavement or that Spiderman is actually bursting through the concrete. Click here or on the image below to check out his amazing (albeit temporary) work.
Crosby Stills & Nash on The Colbert Report

Wednesday night, July 30th, Stephen Colbert welcomed Crosby Stills & Nash to the Report and they played "Teach Your Children." There was, however, a snag. The song requires a four part harmony and Neil Young wasn't there. No problem. Turns out that Stephen has a pretty damn good singing voice and took over Neil's part (while wearing Young's trademark hat and coat). Watch below...
